Yay! I'm back! My first trip back to solo travelerland is Tokyo, Japan!

So this is going to start out like a lot of my old blog posts, describing the joy of arriving at my destination. The flight itself was not so bad, considerig that it was almost a whole day in the air.  All I've seen of Asia so far is beautiful and amazing, it's just such a huge pain in the ass to get here.

I could not afford business class to Asia, so it was back to my old friend, Premium Economy.  Flew American, had a short layover in Dallas, and most everything was fine.  Oh the bathroom floor on the plane was seriously sticky (EW!) and they ran out of eggs for our third meal, so I had just the fruit and yogurt as the only other option was beef. This is Premium Economy...you should not be runing out of anything.

De-planned without any issue, the lines for border control and customs were fine.  The Japanese are very efficient.

However, when it came time to get my train ticket, I ended up waiting in a long, wrong, line before being re-direted to a longer correct line. Was able to reserve my seat on the airport express train ad get a subway pass at the same time, so that made up for part of the annoyane.  Got on the right train and that was the end of my good luck.

My train stop was literally the busiest train station in the World, which appears to be under construction/renovation. I got so turned around that I had to take two different subway lines to get me back on track. Once I got to the right subway station, I easily found my hotel.

I'm here in my teeny tiny room (no, not a capsule...but not much bigger than a capsule with it's own bathroom and kitchen. I showered and had to almost hoist my body over the side of the tub, but I'm not complaining as I'll be taking advantage of that soaking tub later.  Bless the Japanese and their love of soaking in a hot tub of water.

Can't figure out the AC, but the window opens and it's cool out.  I'm so exausted as I really didn't sleep on the plane.  I doubt the traffic noises will keep me up.

Tomorrow I'll check out Shinjuko and do some shopping.  I need food.  In the afternoon, I have sake tasting...should be fun!
