Bavaria Christmas Markets: Day 8 in transition

There are really no photos today.  This was the day I returned to Munich for most of the remainder of my trip.  I do have one overnight to Augsburg in a few days, but most of my luggage will be staying in this hotel (I verified they will store it for me).

Unsurprisingly, my train was delayed by about 30 minutes.  That seems to be a theme here in Bavaria...I wonder if it is the same in all of Germany?  Wurzburg Hbf is not a big station, so there is no lounge per se, and only a few seats.  So, I decided to go sit on the platform.  When it was sunny, it was tolerable.  However, there were several masses of clouds that passed over, so I was more than a little cold.

The train finally arrived and it wasn't crowded.  I settled in to my seat and prepared to catch up on blogging during the 2 hour ride....only to find that the internet was not available.  Not to be deterred, I pulled up the blog on my phone and wrote everything that needed to be posted with them on a notepad.  I got two days done before I got bored with it.

I finally got to Munich and got myself pointed in the wrong direction...walked back through the train station and finally got myself to the hotel I had booked.  This is not the same one that I stayed in last week, this is an aparthotel with a kitchenette and a laundry room.  As this is a few days, it will be more convenient.

The lady at the front desk was very nice and got me all sorted out.  The area the hotel is in seems a bit shady (there is a sports gambling parlor around the corner and there are a few beggars around) and there is a bit of construction going on in the area.  The hotel itself is pristine.  Rooms look new and spotless.

I got myself settled in and decided that this would be a good time to get my Primark shopping done.  There is one in Munich and it's nowhere near the hotel...so I had to figure out the Ubahn.

I found the app I had downloaded on my phone and found that there was a recent update with a new way to buy tickets.   You just attach a payment type (there are several to choose from) and you swipe in at your departure stations and swipe out when you arrive.  It kind of works like a TXTag.  It loads 10 Euro and deducts the amount of the fare.  When you get close to a zero balance, it charges you another 10 Euro.  It took be a bit to figure out that you have to swipe in and out when you are at the entrance to the station, not in the station itself.  It also seems to use a lot of the battery on your phone.  Still, it worked pretty well.

I got to the mall where Primark was without incident.  Found that my 20 Euro suitcases have almost doubled in price (35 Euro).  I picked up some fuzzy lined leggings and a pair of PJs (like the ones I got last year that I LOVE).  I then headed downstairs to the grocery store with an hour to spare before 8pm when everything shuts down here in Germany.  No extended hour nonsense for Christmas shopping.

I got some more breakfast stuff and more cheese.  Everything I bought went into the suitcase and I headed back to the Ubahn.  Made it back without incident despite the group loitering outside of the gambling parlor.

I have to get up early tomorrow, and hope to have great photos to share then.  It's supposed to rain, which should be too much fun.
