My 60th Birthday Bash - Ibiza

This day we'd be arriving at Ibiza, Spain in the afternoon.  I had no reason to get up early, but I did anyway. Breakfast was overcooked oatmeal and a tiny fruit salad at the Irish pub.  Trust me, the Irish would be horrified at that “porridge.”  And that coffee…don’t get me started.  It wasn't the worst in the world and the orange juice was fresh squeezed, so I managed.

I then went outside and discovered we were close to the coast of Ibiza island, so I hung out and enjoyed the views for awhile.  I also went to the salon and made myself an appointment for our day at sea, Saturday.  Just you wait to see…me too, I can hardly wait.

I also had lunch of a yummy fish sandwich and fries.  Had a conversation with the table next to me after overhearing the woman next to me describing her aspartame allergy to the waiter.  We had a bit of a bonding moment.

Around 11:30-ish we entered the port in Ibiza town.  It was pretty cool to watch and I particularly enjoyed the cute lighthouse at the entrance to the port.

It took about an hour to actually dock and be cleared for disembarkation.  I had booked a shuttle for 20 bucks to the old city.  The whole bus was confused when we were dropped off near the water taxi port, which ended up being next to the old town.

I remembered to wear my hat and sunglasses, but forgot my power bank.  Oh well, so I didn't use my phone much.

I just wandered around and did some shopping.

I stumbled upon some really cool scenes and buildings.

Decided I was not feeling up to the hike up to the fort, even when a shop keeper tried to entice me by describing the blue lizards there.

After a couple of hours, I was done.  I went back to the ship and headed back to my room.  I discovered housekeeping was almost at my room, so I stopped in to drop off a few things and headed off to the nearest bar.  After all, I have the unlimited drink package!

Had some pretzel bites with beer cheese sauce with my two gin and tonics.  Then, I figured I needed some real food, so I headed to the buffet.

There was a special Indian food section today, so I tried the biryani and butter chicken. The potato samosa wasn't bad, just a bit too much dough and not enough potatoes.  I hit the children's section to grab some steamed veggies, so that I could pretend to be healthy…and a bit of brie and French bread…just because.  Oh yeah, Chardonnay too.

Walked around outside a bit more, then headed to my room.  Housekeeping was finishing up with the studios, so I thought I'd check out the studio lounge.  One other solo traveler was there having a beer…so I had another wine.

Don't know how I was standing after that, but here I am typing this up in front of the television showing me the ports that we'll be visiting and the excursions I can take.  We leave Ibiza pretty late tonight…around 11pm, which is in about 20 minutes.  I can feel the ship preparing to depart.

And it's about bedtime again because tomorrow is an early port day.  7am arrival and we leave early too at 5pm.
