my 60th Birthday Bash - Palma de Mallorca

You know, they tell you that ship-wide announcements are only in the corridors and on certain channels on the TV in your room…but the announcements are so loud in the hallways that they wake you up anyway.  So, I was rudely awakened by announcements around 8am when we docked.  So, I got up, showered, got dressed, got a cup of coffee and a muffin from the solo lounge, and headed out.

By that time, the shuttles were pretty empty as I was heading out about an hour after we docked.  The shuttle bus left us  by the waterfront and at the foot of the hill below the Cathedral of Santa Maria of Palma.

The city hadn't quite awoken yet and vendors, both legal, and not so legal, were still setting up so it was easy to just wander around.  I found a lovely garden by the cathedral

Even though the fountains hadn't been turned on yet, I found it beautiful.

It was even very early for the Cathedral crowds.

I didn't spend a lot of time doing anything in particular I just wandered around the narrow streets taking pictures

Found a cool little shop selling Mediterranean sea salt harvested on Mallorca, so had to buy some.  Got some regular souvenirs as well.

Went back to the bus early and got a seat on the top (it was a double decker) up front, so I got a birds-eye view of everything.  Tried to take photos, but you know how it goes through bus windows.

Dinner that night was chicken Marsala over risotto, which was kind of lackluster…

Bananas foster was good, but I forgot that it's a lot less fun if they can't set it on fire at your table (no fire play on boats).

After we set sail, I ended up at one of the outside bars ordering a margarita to sip while waiting on the sunset.

And what a sunset it was!
